Crunchy, Flavorful Salmon Cakes- Cooked In An Air Fryer or a Skillet!
Here’s another childhood favorite. These are crispy on the outside and have crunch on the inside. This is the recipe that my mom used to make for me, but I have added my Beggs Bold Blends Poultry & Pork seasoning because mom used about 8 different spices that you’ll find in one bottle of the Beggs Bold Blends. I hope you will enjoy it.
(Yes, the Poultry & Pork Seasoning is FABULOUS with fish!)
Cooking Time

Preparation Time
5 minutes
Servings
4-6 patties
Equipment
- mixing bowl
- you may either pan fry these croquettes in a 10-12 inch skillet with a lid
- (OR you can cook them in an air-fryer)
Ingredients
- 1 14.75 ounce can Salmon (get the kind that includes skin and bones)
- 1/2 cup onion, minced- minced is smaller than just chopped
- 3 stalks of celery, chopped into pieces about the size of beans – include some leaves if you have them!
- 1 sleeve of saltine crackers, crumbled into very small pieces- crumble with your hands- do not use a food processor
- 2 eggs
- 1.5-2 tsp Beggs Bold Blends Poultry & Pork Seasoning (yes! it’s amazing with fish!) OR try Beggs Bold Blends Southwest Seasoning! OR use 1tsp garlic, 1tsp pepper, 1 tsp dill weed, 1/2 tsp celery seeds
- 1/3 cup vegetable oil or olive oil only if pan frying- (you will not need oil to air fry)
- Cooking spray if air frying
Directions
- Open the can of salmon and drain the water
- Dump the salmon into a large mixing bowl
- Add HALF of the cracker crumbs and all other ingredients
- Combine all ingredients using your hands. Really squeeze all those ingredients together for about 20 seconds to insure that everything is evenly mixed
- Form 4-6 patties. I usually form 4 patties
- Press each side of the patties into the cracker crumbs
- IF AIR FRYING: PREHEAT AIR FRYER TO 350F
- Spray the tops of the patties with cooking spray and then put the sprayed side down in the air fryer.
- Spray the top of the patty
- Air fry until the outside is golden brown and crisp
- OR if not using an air fryer, add oil to skillet and place all patties in the pan. Cook covered on medium high heat until each side is crispy and golden brown.
Serve with ketchup, tartar sauce, lemon juice, or whatever condiment you like
