Baked Apples with Streusel Topping


An All-American classic dessert; baked apples. This recipe is simple and fast, and a novice cook can hit this one out of the park. Make it ahead and reheat, if you wish. Top with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream!

Equipment

a 9×13 pyrex casserole dish (halve the recipe for an 8×8 dish)

Ingredients

• 8 medium to large apples, peeled, cored, sliced (use any variety of apple)
• cooking spray

• 1.5 cups of streusel topping

Directions

1. Preheat oven to 350F.
2. Spray baking dish with cooking spray.
3. Place apples in a single layer and sprinkle liberally with streusel topping. (If you have more than one layer, sprinkle a bit of streusel topping between layers)
4. Bake covered until apples are tender (about 35 minutes) then remove cover and bake another 10 minutes to crunch op the streusel a bit.
